Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer

Role Responsibilities
- Deliver discipline-specific engineering services in line with client expectations, applicable statutory requirements, and industry regulations.
- Undertake engineering design and provide technical verification of discipline deliverables prepared by others (within your technical capability).
- Develop ‘fit-for-purpose’ solutions from concept through to as-built, ensuring safety, sustainability, constructability, commissioning, operability, maintainability, and eventual decommissioning are all considered.
- Proactively identify and assess safety hazards and risks across the asset lifecycle; take accountability for action and close-out where applicable.
- Identify technical issues and develop innovative, practical solutions; escalate appropriately when support is required.
- Ensure the project scope is well defined, and that changes are managed through established change control processes.
- Prepare, support, or oversee the development of engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Conduct thorough checking of deliverables in line with applicable quality and review procedures.
- Participate in project reviews, HAZID/HAZOP workshops, and safety in design sessions as required.
- Prepare engineering estimates in response to RFQs for electrical scope, including:
- Scoping and detailing engineering requirements
- Outlining included and excluded tasks
- Documenting assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, and deliverables
- Contributing to project schedules with realistic sequencing
- Identifying required resourcing and availability
- Oversee the sequencing of engineering activities to meet project schedules, including management of subcontractor deliverables.
- Act as the primary interface for discipline-specific technical matters.
- Ensure technical integrity through structured checking, design review, and quality assurance.
- Provide direction and supervision to engineering and design personnel.
- Monitor and report on discipline progress, deliverables, and performance against schedule and budget.
- Manage discipline-specific change control and technical queries.
- Coordinate with other disciplines and support multidisciplinary design integration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Power Engineering (4-year qualification).
- Extensive experience in the resources, mining, or refinery sectors, including demonstrated leadership in discipline-level project delivery.
- Strong expertise in brownfield electrical modifications and sound knowledge of instrumentation and control interfaces (essential).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work across all project phases from concept through to commissioning.
- In-depth understanding of Australian electrical standards.
- Hazardous Area Accreditation and/or Functional Safety TUV Certification (desirable).
