Our client is seeking a Senior Safety Advisor to work at a onshore facility, expansion project on a 3/1 roster flying from Perth.

Senior Safety Advisor

  • In this position, you will support the incorporation of health, safety, and emergency response (ERT) requirements into all phases of the project, including planning, design, construction, and operations.
  • You will offer technical advice and input, support communication efforts, monitor performance data, conduct inspections, and lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of ERT activities.
  • Your contributions will promote employee safety and drive ongoing improvements in project health and safety practices.
  • Respond to and coordinate any emergency situation requiring the mobilization of Emergency Response Team (ERT) members.
  • Periodically review emergency response and preparedness plans, core processes, and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Emergency Response team on emergency drills and cyclone preparedness.
  • Provide technical safety support to projects, assisting in the coordination of safety requirements and the development of risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with project safety personnel, engineering, construction, and onsite HSE teams.
  • Perform safety inspections and assessments of construction activities to ensure compliance with applicable safety and health regulations, contractual obligations, permits, and the project’s HSE plan.

Education and Experience
  • Degree or Graduate Diploma in OHS or a related science/engineering field preferred
  • Broad HSE experience, ideally in refinery, chemical, or LNG construction projects
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, incident investigations, audits, and health surveys
  • Emergency response training (confined space, vertical rescue, fire)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • ICAM or TapRoot certified
  • Current certifications in Work at Heights, Confined Space Entry, Hazardous Goods, and First Aid

Key Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of technical rescue, emergency response, and incident command
  • Ability to develop and deliver fire and rescue training
  • Excellent safety awareness and record
  • Proficient in Excel, Access, and Project
  • Skilled in risk assessment and incident investigation
  • Knowledge of safety systems, procedures, and relevant legislation and standards
