A near-development heavy rare earths project in WA’s East Kimberley is moving from DFS to execution.
Our client is seeking Senior Mining Engineer (Underground) to step in, take control of the DFS position, close critical gaps and drive contracting readiness.
This is a true bridge role between study and delivery — ideal for someone who combines underground technical depth with commercial acumen and can translate design into clear, priceable scopes.
What You’ll Do
- Interrogate and own the DFS – rapidly assess underground mining inputs, identify risks, gaps and interface issues.
- Drive design closure – prioritise and resolve technical, constructability and assumption gaps.
- Shape contracting strategy – work closely with Commercial/Contracts to define packaging approach.
- Author sharp, unambiguous Scopes of Work – define boundaries, deliverables, technical standards and interfaces.
- Prepare tender-ready documentation – issue clean, controlled packages to market.
- Support technical adjudication – respond to queries, evaluate submissions and align outcomes to execution reality.
- Align stakeholders – coordinate engineering, project controls and commercial teams to ensure scope, schedule and risk alignment.
- Degree-qualified Mining Engineer.
- Strong underground mining experience (essential).
- Proven track record inheriting DFS/BFS work and converting it into execution-ready scope.
- Exceptional scope-writing skills — clear, structured, commercially aware.
- Confidence operating across technical and contracting interfaces.
- Open pit to underground transition experience.
- Sublevel caving exposure.
- Critical minerals or rare earths project experience.
- Tender evaluation and contractor engagement experience.
