Reporting to the Engineering Lead – Electrical & Design, this role is responsible for producing detailed electrical design deliverables across High Voltage (HV), Low Voltage (LV), and Protection Systems. You will work collaboratively with internal engineering stakeholders to deliver accurate, compliant, and high-quality design outcomes while supporting broader project objectives.
This position suits a technically strong designer who enjoys hands-on delivery, thrives in a team environment, and brings a methodical approach to complex electrical designs.
About you
- Electrical Drafting, Engineering, or Trade qualification
- Proven experience in detailed design for switchrooms, control panels, and control systems
- Experience using MicroStation 2D or similar design software
- Sound knowledge of drafting standards and processes
- Secondary substation design experience (preferred)
- Electrical installation or site experience (advantageous)
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to checking and documentation
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary design team
- Flexible, self-motivated, and delivery focused
- Prepare detailed electrical design and drafting deliverables including single line diagrams, schematics, and termination drawings
- Develop 3D models of substations and switchrooms
- Produce general arrangement and layout drawings
- Design cable routing and cable layouts
- Liaise with internal engineering stakeholders to coordinate design activities
- Participate in design reviews and checking processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Manage multiple design tasks to support project delivery schedules
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and documentation
