We are seeking an experienced Project Safety Assurance Coordinator to provide owner‑side health and safety governance and assurance on a major construction and capital project within a heavy industry environment.
This role is focused on verification, challenge, and escalation, ensuring that the principal contractor and subcontractors are delivering against their health and safety obligations — without stepping into frontline contractor safety execution.

The Role Reporting to the Project Delivery Lead, you will provide independent, second‑line safety assurance across construction, commissioning, and site interfaces. You will verify that contractor systems, controls, and commitments are being effectively implemented, identify gaps, and escalate material risks through formal project governance channels.
This role is governance‑focused and evidence‑driven, supporting safe project delivery without taking ownership of contractor safety execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pre‑mobilisation review of contractor safety documentation, including management plans and emergency arrangements
- Provide owner‑side verification that principal contractors are implementing agreed safety systems and controls
- Conduct second‑line safety assurance activities focused on conformance, implementation, and effectiveness
- Monitor contractor compliance with contractual and site safety requirements
- Identify systemic or material safety gaps and escalate through formal governance processes
- Support interface management between project delivery, site operations, and contractor teams
- Maintain clear records of assurance observations, actions, escalations, and close‑out
- Provide concise, risk‑based safety reporting to project leadership and key stakeholders
