In the initial phase, you will be responsible for managing metallurgical test programs conducted at an external laboratory, ensuring the work meets scope and is executed to a high technical standard. You will engage closely with laboratory teams to maintain data quality and consistency. As test work concludes, the role transitions into the study office, where you will apply findings to flowsheet development, process modelling, and performance assessment. This position is ideal for a practical and technically capable metallurgist with a strong foundation in sulfide flotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate metallurgical test work programs at external laboratories, ensuring test plans are followed and reliable data is generated.
- Provide daily technical guidance to laboratory staff, ensuring accurate sampling, logging, and reporting.
- Review, validate, and interpret test results in collaboration with process engineers.
- Document results, trends, and key learnings for integration into the PFS.
- Support the development of mass balances, process design criteria, and metallurgical flowsheets.
- Assist in selecting and optimising gravity separation and flotation circuits.
- Contribute to metallurgical accounting, data analysis, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the broader study team to ensure timely, high-quality technical deliverables.
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong background in sulfide base metal flotation
- Experience working in or with metallurgical laboratories.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to data quality and accuracy.
- Strong communication and reporting abilities.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with gravity separation.
- Exposure to flotation outside base metals (e.g., zinc, lead, copper preferred).
- Experience with study work and process development in mining projects.
