Project Director
Lead the strategy, studies, and stakeholder engagement for a major resources development through to FID.
The Opportunity
An exceptional opportunity exists for an experienced Project Director
to lead the pre feasibility study of a minerals processing project. You will take ownership of planning, technical studies, commercial evaluations, and approvals required to advance the project from concept through to a Final Investment Decision. This is a pivotal role for a proven leader with deep experience in managing complex, large-scale resources or metals processing projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the overall feasibility strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and critical milestones.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams across engineering, environmental, heritage, approvals, commercial, and stakeholder engagement streams.
- Oversee technical studies including engineering design, metallurgical test work, infrastructure planning, and environmental baseline programs.
- Ensure integration of study outputs to support cost estimates, risk assessments, and decision-making.
- Direct risk management and implement mitigation strategies for key project risks.
- Engage with regulators, Traditional Owners, local communities, and industry partners to secure approvals and maintain a strong social licence to operate.
- Manage budgets, forecasts, reporting, and commercial planning, including early contractor engagement.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and governance bodies.
- 15+ years’ experience delivering major projects in mining, metals processing, or heavy industry.
- At least 5 years in a senior project leadership role, overseeing feasibility studies valued at A$500M+.
- Strong technical understanding of minerals processing plant, metallurgy, and associated infrastructure.
- Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Deep knowledge of Australian regulatory and permitting frameworks.
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Degree in engineering, project management, or a related field.
- Experience in both greenfield and brownfield environments.
- Background in projects located in remote or challenging settings.
