We’re seeking an experienced Native Title Principal
to lead engagement strategies and secure land access through native title negotiations across Pilbara-based mining projects. This permanent Perth-based role is a rare opportunity to contribute strategically to project success while building respectful, long-term relationships with Traditional Owner groups.
About the Role
As Native Title Principal, you’ll be the key advisor on native title matters - developing and implementing strategies to support project approvals, land access, and agreement-making. Working closely with internal stakeholders and Traditional Owner representatives, you’ll drive meaningful engagement and ensure legal and cultural obligations are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the negotiation and implementation of native title and heritage agreements
- Provide strategic advice on native title across all stages of project development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Traditional Owner groups
- Ensure compliance with legal, procedural, and cultural requirements
- Develop internal guidelines and systems to manage native title activities effectively
- Collaborate with heritage, legal, environment, and approvals teams
- Manage native title budgets and forecast engagement activities
- Tertiary qualification in Law or a closely related field (essential)
- Extensive experience in native title negotiations and land access within the mining or resources sector
- Strong understanding of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) and WA Heritage legislation
- Direct experience working on Pilbara mine sites or with Pilbara native title groups
- Proven success in negotiating with Aboriginal stakeholders and delivering agreed outcomes
- Ability to influence, guide, and engage across all levels of an organisation
- High-level written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously
- Lead land access initiatives on impactful Pilbara mining projects
