We’re seeking an experienced Native Title Principal to lead engagement strategies and secure land access through native title negotiations across Pilbara-based mining projects. This permanent Perth-based role is a rare opportunity to contribute strategically to project success while building respectful, long-term relationships with Traditional Owner groups.

About the Role
As Native Title Principal, you’ll be the key advisor on native title matters - developing and implementing strategies to support project approvals, land access, and agreement-making. Working closely with internal stakeholders and Traditional Owner representatives, you’ll drive meaningful engagement and ensure legal and cultural obligations are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the negotiation and implementation of native title and heritage agreements
  • Provide strategic advice on native title across all stages of project development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Traditional Owner groups
  • Ensure compliance with legal, procedural, and cultural requirements
  • Develop internal guidelines and systems to manage native title activities effectively
  • Collaborate with heritage, legal, environment, and approvals teams
  • Manage native title budgets and forecast engagement activities
What You’ll Bring
  • Tertiary qualification in Law or a closely related field (essential)
  • Extensive experience in native title negotiations and land access within the mining or resources sector
  • Strong understanding of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) and WA Heritage legislation
  • Direct experience working on Pilbara mine sites or with Pilbara native title groups
  • Proven success in negotiating with Aboriginal stakeholders and delivering agreed outcomes
  • Ability to influence, guide, and engage across all levels of an organisation
  • High-level written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously
Why Join Us?
  • Lead land access initiatives on impactful Pilbara mining projects
  • Perth-based permanent opportunity with regular engagement across project sites
  • Work closely with senior leadership and cross-disciplinary teams
  • Join a culturally respectful, purpose-driven organisation that values inclusion and integrity
We strongly encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.
We welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, women, and individuals from all cultural and professional backgrounds to bring their unique perspective to this role.
