An established engineering and project delivery consultancy is seeking Lead / Principal Mechanical Designers to join their growing Perth-based team. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a senior technical and leadership role within a multidisciplinary design environment, working across resources, infrastructure and industrial process projects.
Reporting to the Group Manager of Design & Digital Delivery, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical design and drafting outcomes, contributing to conceptual and detailed design development, and providing leadership and mentorship to the design team.

Responsibilities
- Produce mechanical models and design drawings in accordance with industry standards and engineering calculations
- Lead and manage mechanical design and drafting resources to meet project deliverables, schedules and budgets
- Develop plant layouts using preliminary project data and design information
- Ensure all drawings comply with relevant Australian and international standards
- Review vendor drawings and technical design data
- Manage drawing schedules and track man-hour budgets for assigned scopes
- Maintain progress reporting for drawings produced by team members
- Collaborate closely with engineers, designers and stakeholders across multiple business units
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to mechanical designers
Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in mechanical design and drafting
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team of mechanical designers
- Strong experience in design layout and detailing of process plants and materials handling
- Must have full plant layout experience to be considered for the principal role
- Sound understanding of fabrication and construction techniques within the materials handling industry
- Proficiency in MicroStation (2D and 3D)
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering Design Drafting or equivalent
