About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will lead the mechanical design function across a complex processing and infrastructure scope. You will be responsible for coordinating design activities, ensuring quality and compliance, and providing technical leadership to a team of designers and drafters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical design deliverables across the project lifecycle
- Coordinate and review 3D models, drawings, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to designers and drafting personnel
- Interface closely with multidisciplinary teams including structural, electrical, and process engineering
- Ensure designs meet relevant Australian standards and project specifications
- Support constructability reviews, risk assessments, and design optimisation initiatives
- Engage with contractors and stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely delivery
- Extensive experience in mechanical design within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industry projects
- Proven leadership experience guiding design teams on large-scale projects
- Strong proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g. Bentley and OpenPlant)
- Solid understanding of bulk materials handling, processing plants, and associated equipment
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver within project timelines
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Familiarity with Australian standards and safety in design principles
