Ad Hoc / Relief Work – As Required

We are seeking experienced Emergency Services Officers to join a site‑based emergency response team on an ad hoc / relief basis within a remote Queensland mining environment.
This opportunity is ideal for Emergency Services professionals seeking flexible, as‑needed work, with shifts available to cover planned leave, unplanned absences, and operational requirements. You will play a key role in maintaining emergency response readiness and supporting site safety across operational and community settings.

The Role Reporting to the Emergency Services Supervisor, you will provide frontline emergency response support across site operations and surrounding areas. The role requires strong situational awareness, sound decision‑making, and the ability to perform effectively in a remote, high‑risk environment.
This is a practical, hands‑on role suited to candidates who are comfortable stepping into site coverage at short notice when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency incidents across site operations and surrounding communities
  • Support injury management and first response activities onsite
  • Assist with training, mentoring, and capability development of Emergency Response Team members
  • Conduct Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) testing, including selection and sample collection
  • Maintain emergency response equipment, facilities, and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
  • Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement
About You This role suits adaptable, safety‑focused professionals with a strong emergency services background.
Essential Requirements
  • Demonstrated emergency response experience (mining, heavy industry, or government sector)
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing
  • Manual Driver’s Licence (MR Truck Licence – mandatory)
  • Certificate III in Public Safety or Emergency Response & Rescue – mandatory
Highly Desirable
  • Experience conducting Drug & Alcohol testing
  • Certificate IV in Healthcare
Additional (or willingness to obtain)
  • Certificate II in Fire Protection, Inspection & Testing
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Working at Heights
