Cost Controller

Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring, analysing, and reporting on project costs across multiple mining infrastructure and process plant projects. Your expertise will ensure projects are delivered within budget while maintaining the highest standards in execution and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain cost control systems, processes, and tools.
- Prepare and maintain detailed cost reports, including budgets, commitments, expenditures, variances, and forecasts.
- Monitor project changes in scope, schedule, and quantities, and assess their cost impacts.
- Assist with budget preparation and control in collaboration with project teams.
- Conduct monthly cost reviews, updating forecast-to-complete and Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) values.
- Produce variance analysis, trend reports, and other cost performance documentation.
- Identify risks to cost performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare, issue, and follow up on project invoices.
- Liaise with procurement for integration of vendor and subcontractor cost data.
- Support evaluation of contractor claims, variations, and payment applications.
- Work with planning and quantity surveying teams to align cost, schedule, and scope.
- Contribute to earned value management (EVM) and progress measurement processes.
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ cost control experience in an EPCM or mining environment.
- Proficiency in cost control software and systems (e.g., ERP tools, Xero).
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with data analysis/reporting tools.
- Solid understanding of project lifecycle and cost management principles.
- Exposure to the Australian mining and resources sector.
- Understanding of EPCM project environments.
- Familiarity with scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
