This role will suit an experienced Construction Coordinator (Civil) who thrives on supervising and coordinating multiple contractor work groups delivering bulk-earthworks and other civil packages on a major resources-sector site. Acting client-side/EPCM-style, you’ll be the interface between contractors, owner-teams and engineering services through every stage of the construction program, championing safety, quality and schedule performance while ensuring full compliance with Australian WHS legislation and industry standards.
Key responsibilities
- Lead daily planning, toolbox and risk-assessment activities; participate in formal hazard-risk reviews.
- Supervise and coordinate several concurrent contractor crews, ensuring scopes are delivered to specification, schedule and budget.
- Serve as the site’s nominated responsible person for EHS compliance; verify that all permits, isolations and approvals are in place before work commences.
- Monitor and audit QA/QC processes, including ITP/ITR verification, to guarantee works meet approved drawings and standards.
- Track progress, variations and change-control items; validate contractor claims against agreed milestones and cost codes.
- Facilitate safe access and interface management between construction, operations and maintenance teams.
- Provide clear, timely reporting on HSE performance, schedule adherence, cost trends and emerging risks.
- Trade qualification or equivalent technical background in civil / bulk earthworks.
- Certificate IV in Frontline Management (desirable).
- BSBWHS414 & BSBWHS411 (desirable).
- 10+ years in construction or heavy industry, with at least 5 years in a client-side or EPCM coordination role on civil projects.
- Demonstrated success leading multi-disciplinary teams on large brownfield/greenfield sites.
- Proven team-leadership and problem-solving capability.
- Strong working knowledge of WHS Act 2020 and WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022 or equivalent.
- Ability to implement and audit QA/QC systems.
- Sound understanding of cost control, budgeting and schedule management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
