Job Title- Civil Designer 
Contract: 12+ Months
 
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Civil Designer to join a busy rail division within the sustaining capital projects team. You will work on major upgrades and maintenance across a large-scale heavy haul rail network, contributing to track renewals, ballast cleaning, tamping, earthworks, and other supporting civil works.
 
In this role, you will report to the Design Drafting Manager and collaborate closely with a team of Civil Designers and Drafters. You will be involved from early feasibility stages through to detailed design and engineering execution, ensuring design intent is achieved during project delivery.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare civil design drawings and documentation using MicroStation and 12D.
  • Undertake earthworks and drainage design in line with heavy haul rail design standards.
  • Support feasibility and pre-feasibility engineering campaigns.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to deliver high-quality, accurate outputs.
  • Liaise with site delivery teams during execution to maintain design integrity.
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ design experience in civil, rail, mining, or infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and 12D software.
  • Understanding of heavy haul rail design principles.
  • Experience in earthworks and drainage design.
