This position will suit a technically strong engineer with extensive plant design experience and a proven background in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial projects. About the Role As the Senior Piping Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and reviewing plant design and piping engineering activities. You will provide technical leadership across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases while ensuring compliance with relevant engineering codes, standards, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review piping and plant design deliverables, layouts, drawings, and specifications
- Interpret and apply design criteria and engineering standards for complex brownfield and greenfield facilities
- Analyse piping systems and configurations for compliance with applicable ANSI/ASME codes
- Optimise facility layouts based on P&IDs, operational requirements, maintenance access, and client specifications
- Prepare equipment, material, and work package specifications
- Participate in procurement activities including technical bid evaluations and recommendations
- Coordinate piping engineering activities with other disciplines, vendors, contractors, and construction teams
- Provide technical support during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning phases
- Review and resolve technical issues, non-conformances, and design challenges
- Prepare engineering reports, estimates, material take-offs, studies, field sketches, and progress reports
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Approximately 8-10 years' relevant engineering experience, or equivalent industry experience
- Current RPEQ certification
- Strong knowledge of piping engineering principles including:
- Piping design and layout
- Material and valve selection
- P&ID development
- Equipment arrangement
- Pipe thickness calculations
- Branch connection design
- Piping component specifications
- Experience developing hydrotest procedures and testing plans
- Strong understanding of field installation, construction support, and commissioning activities
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and construction teams
- Working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards
- Advanced safety awareness and commitment to safe design principles
Software Experience Experience with the following is highly desirable:
- Caesar II
- AutoPIPE
- Navisworks
- Navigator
- Microsoft Office Suite
