This is a Brisbane-based position offering flexible hybrid working arrangements and exposure to high-profile projects within the mining, minerals and metals sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering activities from concept development through to detailed design and project delivery.
- Prepare and review mechanical design calculations, specifications, datasheets and technical reports.
- Develop equipment specifications and procurement packages for major plant and infrastructure equipment.
- Coordinate package engineering activities and manage interactions with equipment vendors.
- Review equipment layouts, plant arrangements and integrated design solutions.
- Support HAZOPs, design reviews, constructability reviews and model reviews.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks while ensuring quality and compliance with industry standards.
- Provide technical input into procurement activities including bid evaluations and vendor documentation reviews.
- Track engineering progress against project schedules and budgets.
- Collaborate closely with process, piping, civil, structural, electrical and instrumentation teams.
- Mentor and support junior and developing engineers.
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
- Mandatory RPEQ registration.
- CPEng or equivalent professional registration highly regarded.
- 10+ years' experience in mechanical engineering within mining, minerals and metals projects.
- Proven experience delivering studies, FEED and detailed design phases within EPCM environments.
- Strong background in one or more of the following:
- Mineral processing facilities
- Hydrometallurgical or pyrometallurgical plants
- Comminution and screening systems
- Bulk materials handling and mobile equipment
- Mining infrastructure and associated facilities
- Water, wastewater, slurry and pipeline systems
- Major equipment procurement and package engineering
- Mechanical equipment design and specification.
- Bulk materials handling systems.
- Pumps, tanks, pressure vessels and process equipment.
- Vendor management and procurement support.
- Equipment layout development and plant integration.
- Knowledge of Australian and international engineering codes and standards.
