Senior Control Systems Engineer | Mining & Process Operations About the Role We are seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join a major mining operation, providing frontline automation and process control support across a large-scale processing facility. This hands-on role will play a key part in maintaining system reliability, improving plant performance, and delivering continuous improvement initiatives within a safety-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, reliable, and effective operation and maintenance of site-wide control systems
  • Deliver frontline engineering support to operations, maintenance, and project teams
  • Perform preventative maintenance, system audits, software updates, and compliance checks
  • Lead troubleshooting and fault-finding activities, including root cause investigations
  • Manage control system changes in line with site governance procedures
  • Identify and execute improvement opportunities and small capital projects
  • Monitor and optimise automation system performance to improve operational outcomes
  • Maintain the integrity and cybersecurity of industrial control systems
  • Mentor and support site personnel on control systems best practice
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align automation solutions with operational requirements
  • Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to ongoing safety initiatives
  • Support team development through coaching and knowledge sharing
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and budget activities where required
About You You are a proactive automation and control systems professional with strong technical capability and a passion for solving complex operational challenges.
You will bring:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within mining, mineral processing, energy, or heavy industrial environments
  • Electrical & Instrumentation trade background with automation experience, or an Engineering degree in Electrical, Electronics, Process Control, Mechatronics, or related discipline
  • Experience with distributed control systems (DCS)
  • Exposure to PLC platforms including Rockwell/Allen-Bradley systems
  • Knowledge of SCADA and HMI applications
  • Understanding of industrial communication networks and protocols
  • Experience working with historian and operational data platforms
  • Basic networking and industrial infrastructure knowledge
  • Competency with Microsoft Office and CMMS/ERP systems
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
