About the role An established engineering and project delivery organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Designer to support the delivery of major resources and infrastructure projects.
Reporting within a multidisciplinary design team, you will be responsible for planning, developing and reviewing civil design deliverables, producing 3D models, drawings and engineering documentation, and supporting project delivery from concept through to construction.
This position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement, combining office-based collaboration with work-from-home flexibility.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate civil design activities within project teams.
- Produce 3D models, drawings and documentation for earthworks, roads, drainage and associated civil infrastructure.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and support estimating activities.
- Develop civil design work plans aligned with project scope, schedule and budget requirements.
- Review and check drawings, models and design deliverables prepared by other designers and drafters.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, codes and project requirements.
- Coordinate design interfaces with civil engineers, designers, drafters and other disciplines.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges and deliver integrated design solutions.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and project stakeholders to obtain approvals and address technical matters.
- Participate in technical reviews and provide recommendations on complex design issues.
- Develop and maintain design procedures, standards and work practices.
- Mentor junior and intermediate designers to support their technical development.
- Approximately 12-14 years of civil design experience within mining, resources, infrastructure, industrial or related sectors.
- Strong experience delivering civil design packages across study, FEED and detailed design phases.
- Demonstrated ability to lead design activities and coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles, drafting standards and project delivery requirements.
- Experience developing and reviewing earthworks, roadworks and drainage designs.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience mentoring and guiding junior team members.
- Advanced proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
- Extensive experience in 3D civil modelling and design documentation.
- Experience producing civil designs for bulk earthworks, roads, drainage and site development works.
- Strong understanding of drafting standards and civil design workflows.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary 3D design environments.
- Quantity take-off and estimating experience.
- Experience on large-scale mining, mineral processing or industrial projects.
- Exposure to brownfield and greenfield developments.
- Knowledge of civil construction methods and materials.
