We are seeking an experienced procurement professional to lead procurement activities across major engineering, construction and resources projects. The role will be responsible for developing procurement strategies, managing sourcing activities and ensuring the timely and commercially effective supply of materials, equipment and services. Working closely with engineering, construction and project teams, you will play a key role in supplier selection, tendering, commercial evaluation, procurement planning and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project objectives, commercial requirements, governance and risk management.
- Develop procurement strategies and roadmaps for projects and oversee their successful execution.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction and project teams to forecast procurement requirements.
- Research, identify and evaluate potential suppliers and subcontractors.
- Establish, maintain and manage supplier and subcontractor databases.
- Lead supplier and subcontractor onboarding and qualification processes.
- Prepare and manage RFQs, RFPs and tender packages.
- Develop bidder lists and coordinate competitive sourcing activities.
- Lead pre-bid meetings, tender clarifications and commercial evaluations.
- Evaluate technical and commercial submissions and provide procurement recommendations.
- Ensure materials, equipment and services are procured in line with project schedules and milestones.
- Coordinate procurement and logistics activities with suppliers, engineering teams and site personnel.
- Manage procurement budgets and monitor expenditure against approved forecasts.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery and commercial outcomes.
- Analyse procurement performance and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Identify procurement risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with governance, internal controls and company procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- 8–10 years' procurement experience within EPCM, engineering or construction environments.
- Demonstrated experience across the mining and resources sector, either within Australia or internationally.
- Essential experience working within an engineering consultancy/EPCM environment, rather than solely on the client side.
- Strong understanding of procurement best practice, governance, compliance and internal controls.
- Strong commercial and contractual acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and manage procurement and supply chain risks.
- Proven experience developing and implementing project procurement strategies and roadmaps.
- Strong tendering, supplier evaluation and commercial negotiation capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
You will be a commercially astute procurement professional with strong EPCM or construction experience and a proven ability to develop procurement strategies and translate them into effective project outcomes.
You will be confident working across engineering, construction and commercial teams, with the ability to manage complex procurement activities while maintaining strong governance, supplier performance and commercial outcomes.
