The Opportunity We’re looking for an experienced Pre-Commissioning Control Systems Specialist to join a high-performing site team delivering major materials handling and infrastructure assets in the Pilbara.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of control systems pre-commissioning, working across complex brownfield and greenfield environments to drive safe commissioning, startup, and handover of critical plant systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead control systems pre-commissioning (I/O checks, loop checks, functional testing, panel inspections)
- Complete system walkdowns across plant, stockyards, rail and infrastructure to confirm readiness
- Review and approve test packs, procedures and work packages
- Coordinate OEMs and vendors across PLC, DCS, SCADA, drives and safety systems
- Identify and resolve defects, punch items and integration issues in live environments
- Support energisation, isolation and LOTO activities in line with site standards
- Work closely with construction, engineering, operations and maintenance teams
- Ensure accurate documentation, test records, redlines and handover dossiers
- Proven experience in pre-commissioning / commissioning of control systems on mining or heavy industrial projects
- Strong hands-on knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, industrial networks and safety systems
- Experience operating in brownfield / live plant environments
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, I/O schedules, control philosophies and cause & effect matrices
- Trade or technical background in Electrical, Instrumentation or Control Systems (or equivalent)
- Strong focus on safety, quality and delivery
- Comfortable working FIFO in a fast-paced Pilbara environment
- High-impact role on large-scale industrial assets
- Strong focus on control systems and commissioning (technically rewarding work)
- FIFO 2:1 roster with established site support
