We are seeking an experienced Mining Infrastructure Underground Superintendent to join a long-term underground mining operation in Western Australia.
This is a key site-based leadership position, responsible for overseeing underground mining infrastructure, mine development and operational readiness. Working on a 2:1 FIFO roster, you will lead multidisciplinary teams and underground contractors, ensuring activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with operational objectives, technical requirements and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of underground mining infrastructure, mine development and associated construction activities.
- Lead and manage underground contractors, subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams to achieve operational milestones.
- Coordinate mine planning, scheduling, resource allocation and operational readiness to support efficient delivery.
- Monitor operational progress, identify potential risks and implement strategies to address delays and delivery constraints.
- Ensure all underground activities comply with relevant mining legislation, site safety standards, environmental requirements and industry best practices.
- Promote a strong safety culture through proactive risk management, hazard identification and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering, technical, commercial and corporate stakeholders to align operational activities with broader business objectives.
- Manage contractor performance, operational interfaces, productivity and adherence to contractual and technical requirements.
- Provide regular reporting on operational performance, progress, resourcing, risks and key deliverables.
- Support operational readiness and the transition of underground infrastructure into ongoing operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, optimise resources and enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide visible site-based leadership, mentoring and guidance to supervisors and personnel while fostering a high-performing team environment.
To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience in underground mining operations, mine infrastructure or underground mine development, supported by a strong background in site-based leadership and operational delivery.
You will also demonstrate:
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a relevant mining discipline.
- Significant experience in underground mining operations, infrastructure delivery or mine development.
- Demonstrated experience managing underground contractors, subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven capability in mine planning, scheduling, resource management and operational readiness.
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods, infrastructure requirements and operational practices.
- Experience engaging with commercial, technical, engineering and corporate stakeholders.
- A sound understanding of relevant mining legislation, safety regulations and industry standards.
- Current or recent site-based mining experience, with a proven ability to lead teams in demanding operational environments.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed operational decisions.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, maintain schedules and drive safe, productive outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
