This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for safely delivering system energisation, testing, and operational readiness while providing strong technical leadership across commissioning, construction, operations, and vendor teams.
You will play a critical role in transitioning assets from construction through to live operation, ensuring all electrical systems are commissioned efficiently and in full compliance with project, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate electrical commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through to start-up
- Manage commissioning resources, vendors, and specialist contractors to meet project schedules
- Oversee documentation including ITRs, Construction Verification Certificates, commissioning work packs, and energisation approvals
- Review and approve commissioning procedures, test plans, and system start-up sequences
- Manage systemisation boundaries and readiness milestones including RFC and RFSU
- Oversee testing of HV systems, protection systems, SCADA, load management, charger management systems, and network integration
- Lead safe energisation processes, HV isolations, switching plans, and permitting
- Identify and manage commissioning risks, including boundary isolations, SIMOPS, and hazard reviews
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to commissioning and site teams
- Support development of operational test procedures and asset handover to Operations
- Participate in punch list walkdowns and drive close-out of defects
- Manage change control during commissioning and ensure impacts are assessed and approved
- Work closely with construction teams to support smooth handover into commissioning
- Coordinate with Operations and Asset Management to ensure readiness, training, and load commissioning
- Provide clear reporting on progress, risks, resourcing, and commissioning readiness
You are a highly experienced electrical commissioning professional with strong leadership capability and a proven background delivering complex site-based projects. You bring deep technical knowledge across HV systems and electrical infrastructure, along with a practical, safety-first approach.
You will also demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in electrical commissioning on large projects
- Strong knowledge of HV systems, energisation processes, and protection testing
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in high-risk environments
- Excellent stakeholder engagement across construction, operations, and vendors
- Strong documentation, planning, and organisational skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
