We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee contracting and procurement activities across a major project environment. This role will ensure effective commercial management, procurement governance and supplier performance while supporting project delivery objectives, managing contractual risk and maintaining compliance with relevant standards and obligations.
Working closely with project leadership and key stakeholders, you will provide commercial guidance across the full contract lifecycle, from procurement strategy and tendering through to negotiations, variations, claims and contract close-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee project contracting and procurement activities, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks, procedures and commercial standards.
- Develop and implement contracting and procurement strategies aligned with project requirements and delivery models.
- Manage end-to-end tendering activities, including preparation of RFQs and ITTs, tender evaluations, negotiations and recommendations for award.
- Manage the contract lifecycle, including variations, claims, dispute resolution, supplier performance and contract close-out.
- Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations, KPIs and service levels, addressing issues and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Conduct commercial reviews and assurance activities to support compliance, risk management and audit readiness.
- Provide commercial advice to project leadership, identifying contractual risks, cost optimisation opportunities and strategies to support informed decision-making.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with project teams, finance, engineering, legal, contractors and suppliers.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, standardise practices and deliver commercial efficiencies.
- Support continuous improvement, mentor team members and promote a collaborative, accountable team culture.
- Proven experience in contracts management and procurement within major projects, engineering, construction or resources environments.
- Strong commercial acumen, with demonstrated experience in contract negotiations, tendering and supplier management.
- Experience developing and implementing contracting strategies across various project delivery and commercial models.
- Sound knowledge of contract administration, variations, claims, dispute avoidance and resolution, and contract close-out.
- Strong understanding of commercial governance, risk management, compliance and procurement assurance.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide commercial advice and manage competing priorities in a project environment.
- Experience with digital procurement and contract management systems such as Unifier, InEight, Aconex or similar is desirable.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement, collaboration and commercial performance.
