We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of a large‑scale solar generation facility with an integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) as the project transitions through late‑stage construction toward commissioning and handover.

This is a senior, owner‑side delivery role responsible for safely executing construction activities across multiple disciplines, with a strong electrical and BESS focus as the project nears completion. The role requires hands‑on field leadership, disciplined execution, and the ability to manage complex contractor and stakeholder interfaces in a live site environment.

The Role As Construction Manager, you will be accountable for overseeing construction execution to ensure works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards, while operating within defined constraints.

You will lead and coordinate an owner’s construction team comprising engineers, superintendents, and supervisors across multiple work packages. While the role covers civil, mechanical/structural, and electrical scopes, the project becomes predominantly electrical in nature as it approaches commissioning, requiring strong electrical supervision capability and experience managing energisation‑ready works.

Key Responsibilities
Construction Leadership & Delivery
  • Oversee end‑to‑end construction execution, ensuring delivery against agreed schedules, budgets, and quality requirements
  • Lead, mentor, and provide clear direction to an owner’s team supporting multiple construction work packages
  • Maintain a strong site presence and provide visible, effective field leadership
Safety & Compliance
  • Deliver work safely, with proven experience in high‑quality field leadership interactions
  • Implement safety improvements and manage incidents, events, and escalations
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislative requirements and site safety systems
Resource & Contractor Management
  • Manage internal and external resources to ensure labour, equipment, materials, and logistics are appropriately allocated
  • Support contract management by monitoring contractor KPIs, reporting performance, and deploying corrective actions where required
  • Drive contractor productivity, sequencing, and delivery discipline
Planning, Scheduling & Performance
  • Monitor construction schedules to ensure works are completed in line with agreed plans
  • Develop, track, and report key production and productivity metrics
  • Identify delivery risks early and implement effective mitigation strategies
Quality, Risk & Change Management
  • Ensure construction activities meet required quality standards and technical specifications
  • Identify and manage construction and interface risks, implementing and monitoring controls
  • Ensure formal change management processes are followed and impacts are clearly managed
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels of the business
  • Provide clear, accurate updates on progress, risks, and constraints
Solar & BESS Focus The project comprises a utility‑scale solar installation integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). As construction progresses toward commissioning, the Construction Manager will play a key role in:
  • Coordinating electrical construction activities across solar and BESS scopes
  • Managing interfaces between civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical works
  • Supporting readiness for energisation, commissioning, and handover
  • Ensuring compliance with electrical standards, permits, and electrical notices
  • Sequencing construction works to support safe and efficient commissioning outcomes
Experience & Background
  • Ideally 10+ years’ experience as a Site Superintendent or Construction Manager
  • Previous mining environment experience on either the client or contractor side
  • Strong multi‑discipline background across civil, mechanical/structural, and electrical works
  • As the project becomes predominantly electrical, electrical trade qualification, electrical supervision experience, or strong working knowledge of electrical compliance requirements is highly desirable
  • Experience on solar and/or BESS projects is a significant advantage
Personal Attributes
  • Calm, structured, and delivery‑focused leader
  • Comfortable managing complexity and multiple contractor interfaces
  • Strong communicator able to engage across all levels of the business
  • Practical, solutions‑oriented, and resilient in fast‑moving project environments
ALL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE PERMANENT RESIDENCY OR CITIZENSHIP WITHIN AUSTRALIA.
