Join a high-profile energy infrastructure project delivering a large-scale renewable energy and transmission network across Western Australia. We're seeking an experienced Commissioning Lead (SCADA & Controls) to play a critical role in the commissioning of substations, renewable generation assets and advanced control systems within a complex power utility environment.

This is an opportunity to work on a technically challenging project involving cutting-edge technologies across power generation, transmission, battery energy storage systems and renewable energy integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead commissioning activities for SCADA and control systems across substations and renewable energy assets
  • Configure, modify and troubleshoot RTUs, SCADA and automation systems
  • Execute commissioning plans, procedures and acceptance testing
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, technology and project teams
  • Integrate control systems with existing and new electrical infrastructure
  • Update technical documentation, drawings and commissioning records
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety and project requirements
  • Support troubleshooting and optimisation of complex control systems during commissioning
About You

To be successful, you'll have experience working within power utility, transmission, renewable energy or industrial control system environments and possess strong knowledge of SCADA and automation systems.

Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with electrical control systems within power utility or related industries
  • Strong experience with SCADA, RTU, HMI and industrial control systems
  • Experience commissioning substation automation and/or power generation control systems
  • Ability to interpret and modify Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols including:
    • IEC61850
    • IEC104
    • DNP3
    • Modbus
  • Experience with network architecture, routing, switching and secure communications
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage multiple stakeholders
Highly Regarded
  • Experience with Siemens A8000 or SEL RTAC platforms
  • Knowledge of SICAM SCC, Ignition or SEL Diagram Builder
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Renewable energy project experience (wind and solar)
  • IEC61131 programming experience (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block)
  • Understanding of IEC62443 Cyber Security standards
  • Experience with inverter-based control systems
Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Control Systems or Mechatronics Engineering; or
  • Relevant Electrical Trade Qualification with extensive controls and SCADA experience
